Alienware is getting ready to launch the Area-51 m15x and Area-51 m17x gaming notebooks. The Area-51 m17x is the most advance Alienware has built so far, according to the company. The 15-inch Area-51 m15x can be configured with dual hard drives, while the 17-inch m17x can accommodate triple had drives. The two new Alienware notebooks will be highly customizable.

For a monster notebook with multimedia and gaming, you can't get much cooler than Alienware and its 17-inch widescreen m9750 notebook.

Today Alienware unveiled its new Area-51 m17x and m15x gaming laptops. The m17x is a 17 " screen monster while the m15x is a 15 " screen notebook. Both offer dual Nvidia 8800m graphics cards and Intel Core 2 Extreme 2.80GHz processors. The only bad news is that the m17x and m15x won't be available until Q1 of 2008.

Boutique PC maker Alienware has been flooding in-boxes recently with secretive messages about its upcoming unveiling of two new gaming laptops. E-mails to members of the company's mailing list are filled with cryptic notes about " increased extraterrestrial activity " and links to a Web site with an " alien " message to decipher. If you've cracked the code, you probably already know some of this, but Alienware has confirmed for CNET that the two new laptops are going to be called the Area-51 m15x and Area-51 m17x, and both will be officially shown off for the first time on Monday here in New York. We won't see these new 15- and 17-inch systems in full until next week, but Alienware says they have a whole new look, designed from the ground up, and will be available with a choice of two case designs called Skullcap and Ripley.

In a slip up on the Alienware website it appears the company is set to release a couple of new notebooks, the M15x and M17x will be 15 " and 17 " notebooks respectively. The Nvidia 8800GTX graphics card, unknown about to date, was part of the option on these notebooks that showed up on Alienware.com today but was later taken down.
