Dell’s new XPS M1730 is now available on Dell’s XPS shopping page. The XPS M1730 is 17-inch high-performance gaming notebook that’s sure to impress power hungry gamers, but for now it’s only available in a single configuration for $2,999. Beefier versions of the XPS M1730, and build-to-order options should be available soon.
The XPS M1730 base configuration inclusdes an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (T7700 2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB, 4MB Cache), Vista Home Premium, 17-inch widescreen WUXGA display, 2GB of RAM, CD/DVD burner and a 200GB hard drive spinning at 7200RPM. Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT with NVIDIA SLI (512MB) and an AGEIA PhysX Physics Accelerator provide realistic graphics. The XPS M1730 is the first notebook to feature the AGEIA PhysX Physics Accelerator.
This configuration comes with an Intel 802.11a/g wireless card. For this price, Dell should include an 802.11n card, especially since users will be using the M1730 to play networked video games and stream multimedia content.
Serious gamers with fat wallets will want to wait until more options, including Intel’s Core 2 Extreme processors are available on the XPS M1730.
