Best Buy will sell the HP Pavilion dv4 for $499 or $599 on Black Friday. The dv4 looks like its a special edition notebook with a silver finish instead of the standard HP black imprint finish.

The $499 version of the dv4 includes 3GB of memory, 160GB hard drive and a 14.1-inch display. There will be a minimum of 10 units at each Best Buy store on Black Friday. The SKU for this deal is dv4-1114nr

The $599 version of the dv4 includes 4GB of memory, a 250GB hard drive, Trend Micro AntiVirus and an Epson All-in-One Printer.

Both versions dv4 featured on Black Friday will include Intel Core 2 DUo processors. If you want to compare this notebook on HP’s Web site, be sure to search for the dv4t (Intel) and not the dv4z (AMD).

There will be a minimum of 10 of each configuration at all Best Buy stores on Black Friday.

HP’s TouchSmart TX2is the first consumer Tablet PC with a multi-touch display, which enables users to control the computer using gestures.  The TouchSmart TX The TouchSmart TX2 is availabe for order starting today for $1,199.

The TouchSmart TX2 is an improvement over HP’s previous tablet, the Pavilion tx2500z. It shares nearly identical features other than the new multi-touch display. The tx2500z does include a touchscreen, but you can only use one finger at time.

If you’re considering a consumer tablet the TX2 is definitely worth a close look. Check out the below HP promo video to get a sense of what multi-touch means. If you’re an iPod Touch/iPhone owner you’ll feel right at home with the TX2.

The TouchSmart TX2’s interface is similar to the HP’s desktop TouchSmarts that I first played with back in June. I wondered when we’d see it on a tablet and am really happy that HP’s offerring similar features in a mobile package.

Update: I updated the title of this post to include the word "consumer" because the Dell Latitude XT was released last year with N-trig's multitouch functionality. The Latitude XT is an enterprise tablet, which basically means it costs more and provides inferior specs. The baseline Latitude XT costs $1,829 (and that's after a large discount) for a Core Solo processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 40GB hard drive. So, one might say the HP TouchSmart tx2 is the first multitouch tablet you would actually buy with your own money.

This 12.1-inch convertible tablet provides the iPhone-like ability to scroll, zoom, flick, and drag and drop by using your fingers on the screen. For example, you can scroll up and down by using two fingers on the screen or zoom in and out by using a pinching motion.

+HP is preparing to launch a digital photo frame that has more in common with its recently announced Mini 1000 than its current lineup of photo frames.  According to our source, this device is “no bu;lls**t like all of the other digital picture frames out there.” It will look like a digital picture frame, but will act more like HP’s Mini 1000 and provide users with a web browser, email client, news feeds, widgets and other lightweight applications.

The frame will be marketed as a companion Internet device for home use and have an approximately $400 price point. Users will be able to add widgets such as Flickr and RSS feeds. Other lite applications will be able to be installed.

Exact specifications are not available yet, but it this HP companion device may include an Intel Atom processor, WiFi and a 10-inch display. With the HP Pavilion dv3510nr, Best Buy's Blue Label laptop program is off to a hot start. It packs a ton of features and performance in a sleek, 13-inch frame and earned itself an Editors' Choice award in the process.

What is Blue Label, you ask? It's a new program where Best Buy takes input from its customers and then works with its vendors to create a laptop that serves up the features its customers want most. According to Best Buy, the features its customers wanted most in a laptop are longer battery life, a thin and lightweight design but with a roomy screen, and a backlit keyboard--all backed with "superior" support. Ann Finnie from HP sent over a new promo video for the HP Mini 1000. I really like these brief ads that Adcetera ( a Houston, TX ad agency) puts together for HP. They are always very concise and communicate a few benefits of HP’s products in layman’s terms.

In the video, HP calls the Mini 1000 a “mobile companion” and makes it clear that this device is geared towards a few specific tasks. I think this is the kind of promotion more netbook manufacturers and retailers need to do. I’ve seen too many promotions that try to promote netbooks as “powerful” or “perfect for multimedia.”
