permalink | comments (0) HP's Updated Budget Laptop Image Courtesy HP The HP Pavilion dv6707us doesn't look all that different from the previous dv6000 series notebooks the company has released. That is because the core system retains much of the same basic components. It has been updated here and there to give it a bit more of a boost in performance. But how does this new model compare to other budget laptops? Find out more in my review. HP Pavilion dv6707us Budget Laptop Review

The HP 2133 Mini-Note is available for order on HP’s Web site from $499 to $849, with a 4/17/08 estimated shipping date. The HP 2133 is about simplicity and ease of use, but you’d never know that if you’re in HP’s shopping cart.

I reviewed the 2133 Mini-Note here and really liked it.

To be fair, the HP 2133 is being sold by HP’s commercial group, who’s product info and configuration pages aren’t tuned for consumers. It’s obvious that HP’s just slapped the HP 2133 into a standard template without really thinking about the customer.

click here if you want to see the 2133’s order page for yourself in a seperate window and follow along

You can’t customize anything when you click ‘customize,’ there’s configurations with out of whack pricing and there’s all sorts of things being offered on the page that don’t, well…compute.

The base HP 2133, which is priced at $499,comes with Linux, not Windows. But the very top of the product description reads “HP recommends Windows Vista Business.” Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense considering Windows isn’t even an option on this SKU.

There’s been a lot of hype and news regarding low-cost and/or small form factor PCs in recent days. HP 2133 Mini-Note Let’s start off with the HP 2133 Mini-Note. I wrote about my thoughts earlier and followed up with the editor at Notebook Review regarding possible problems with the VIA power management module. Unfortunately, the unit has been sent back to HP already, but judging by the editor’s experience with the 1.2GHz C7-M ULV in the Everex Cloudbook, the heat dissipation and mediocre batt

tz2000zHP’s sent over a tx2000z for me to review. I really look forward to spending some quality time with this consumer Tablet PC, which Kevin Wentzel first showed us a few months ago, but I wanted to give thanks to whoever’s in charge of packaging the tx2000z.

I don’t like how the HP Pavilion notebook boxes look, but I fully appreciate how well the protect the goods inside.

I get several deliveries a week at my home office and a couple of the FedEx delivery guys in my neighborhood flat our suck at their jobs. Instead of ringing my doorbell and waiting 30 seconds for me to run downstairs they just throw packages over my seven-foot tall gate and onto my concrete stoop.

When I confront them about this, they apologize and make up some lame excuse about how they thought it was a book from Amazon, or how tossing behind the gate is considered a secure delivery.

On Friday I had some words with a FedEx guy who tossed a camera over the gate. He said it felt lightweight and he could tell there was bubble wrap, so he figured it was fine to handle a seven-foot ...

It has been really a long while since we have seen the first rumors of the upcoming HP UMPC 2133 (now HP Mini) first in February. The product has finally come to the light. Since the invention of OLPC and followed by that EEE PC vs. OLPC case, I was getting more and more interested in the UMPC world. Deep in my heart, a ultra-portable tablet PC with extraordinary performance, like gaming, CAD design and long battery would be definitely a killer to me. However, due to the difficult of engineer
