Lenovo officially introduced the ThinkPad X200 today, but was kind enough to send me an early review unit last week. The X200 is Lenovo’s new 12-inch business notebook and it’s been a joy to use for the past few days. The X200 has a starting price of just $1,199, making it an excellent value for anyone who needs a fully-capable notebook that can get them through a full work day.
Lenovo’s revamped the ThinkPad line’s naming convention, with the X200 replacing the X61.The X200 has a widescreen display, which is a departure from the standard (4:3) aspect ratio found on the X61.
The X200 is a whole different animal than the 13.3-inch X300, which is optimized to be as thin and light as possible and has a low-voltage processor, built-in DVD burner, and a solid state drive and has an eye-popping sticker price of $3,225. The X200 doesn’t have an optical drive, but it does have full-speed Intel Core 2 Duo processors, an array of drive options and an optional docking solution.
The X200 still feels extremely solid and well built. It might not win any beauty pageants, but that’s ok since the X200 is all business.
The X200 is ...

The Lenovo ThinkPad X200 is an update and evolution of the ThinkPad X61 12.1" screen ultraportable and, as the name suggests, borrows a bit from the design cue of the much praised ThinkPad X300 ultra-slim laptop. To be sure, the X200 is not as expensive nor as cutting edge as the X300, the high-end features and supermodel thin X300 outdo what you'll get design-wise with the X200. With that said, the ultraportable X200 certainly has a lot to like about it, offers better performance than the X300 and has a more reasonable price. This review will delve into the features and updates the X200 has to the previous X61.

How do Lenovo's two ultraportables stack up?
(Credit: Michelle Thatcher)
Lenovo has really been stepping up its ultraportable game this year, releasing first the unbelievably thin ThinkPad X300 and then the stunningly beautiful IdeaPad U110. They're both so well designed, we thought we'd put them head to head to determine which has the best design. The short version: the IdeaPad U110 is gorgeous, but is best used as a highly mobile complement to your deskop computer; the ThinkPad X300 may not be as eye-catching, but it has design elements that let it conceivably be your only computer. Full details of the comparison are after the jump.

Lenovo sent over an IdeaPad U110 for me to play with for the next few months. The IdeaPad U110 is Lenovo’s first 11-inch consumer notebook and it’s simply gorgeous. Everyone I’ve shown it to so far wants to steal it from me. The IdeaPad U110 is available now for $1,899 and as far as I can tell so far is worth every penny.
The IdeaPad U110’s $1,899 price tag may seem expensive to some PC users, but once you get your hands on one of these things its crystal clear that you’re getting a truly luxurious notebook that includes lots of options and extras that other manufacturers charge extra for. The price includes both a 3-cell and 7-cell battery, external DVD burner and a protective sleeve.
The IdeaPad U110’s designers paid a lot of attention to detail and all of these small things really add, making the U110 really enjoyable to use. I’ll get into some of these details in a full review, but some quick design elements that make the U110 stand out are:
-Frame-less display
-Asian-influenced detailing
-metallic top-cover with raised scroll pattern.
-Veriface automatically recognizes your face and logs you ...
