Ruggedized notebooks have always had a steep starting price point, which in the past has scared away many hopefully buyers. The most notable rugged notebooks from the Panasonic Toughbook line start upwards of $2,000, and go above $4,000 for some versions. Systemax, one of the few “American Made” PC manufacturers, hopes to change this trend with a new rugged notebook of their own, starting at $999.
